The Dignity of Labor

As I've traveled throughout the subcontinent, I've always been impressed with the work ethic of the citizens of India. Though hundreds of thousands still live in abject poverty, folk bear up under the work at hand with such pride and determination. A peasant woman sweeping the street in front of a construction site like you see here, a seemingly Sisyphusian task, we are reminded of the dignity of labor. Additionally, I am reminded that our global economic system is deeply skewed in favor of powerful elites and that no matter how hard some work, upward mobility will always elude them. May our travels enable us to be advocates for every laborer the world over.
